SCA Student Heads to Washington, D.C.
This was the opportunity of a lifetime for four Summit Christian Academy (SCA) students. Eighth grader Carolyn Herrera, seventh grader Sam Chinnery, sixth grader Juliana Ames, and fifth grader Matthew Mitchell recently traveled to Texas to participate in the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) Regional Spelling Bee after capturing the top four spots in the District Spelling Bee.
Over sixty students, from Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas took part in this year’s competition in Dallas, Texas.
Sam Chinnery was named the 2012 ACSI Regional Spelling Bee Champion and will compete in Washington, D.C., on May 12. Carolyn Herrera placed fifth and was named an alternate for the upcoming national competition.
