Summit Christian Academy is pleased to announce that the school’s first Policy Team for the SCA Speech and Debate Team, freshmen Corbin Healy and Abram Bagunu, took first place in the Oak Park Speech and Debate Tournament.  SCA defeated other high schools including Rockhurst and Blue Springs.

“The students worked so hard in class and outside of class researching and practicing,” said Mrs. Anne Mussati, SCA secondary speech and debate teacher and coach.  “I could not be more proud.”

This is the first year that SCA’s team has competed in Policy Debate.  Unlike Public Forum Debate or Lincoln Douglass Debate, Policy Debate requires that students delve into one subject for one year, becoming an expert in that area.  The focus this year is on Cuba’s relationship with the United States.
