SCA Students Celebrate Veteran’s Day


Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Mr. Jim Pirie shares with the students about his service as a Command Pilot in the Air Force. Mr. Pirie was also the first SCA Head Administrator when the school began in 1989.

(Lee’s Summit, MO) – Summit Christian Academy (SCA) elementary students filled the auditorium for a special Veteran’s Day Chapel. SCA guest speakers included; Retired Air Force Captain Dr. Harold Finch, Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel Mr. Jim Pirie, Air Force Technical Sgt. Christopher Gunn, Army National Guard Staff Sgt.- Andrew Schueller, SCA Alumnus and Army Cadet Captain Kendall Gregg and SCA Alumnus Army 2nd Lt. U.S. Army Steven Santon.

“As a member of the Army, yes we are sacrificing to serve our country. All of us that are here before you are serving or have served our country,” shared SCA Alumnus, and recent West Point graduate Army Lt. Steven Santon. “What we have to realize is this. The greatest sacrifice came from Jesus. He gave it all for us. He was the ultimate service leader, and paid the ultimate price for us.”

The ceremony honored all areas of the military and featured SCA alumni, former administrators and parents.

“It was such a wonderful ceremony where the students had the opportunity to honor and pray for our current families and alumni who are serving our nation and hear about their careers in the military,” shared SCA’s Head of School Linda Harrelson.
