(Lee’s Summit) – Several Summit Christian Academy (SCA) host families, along with International Program Director Kathy Tharp and international student faculty member Anthony Mickelson recently attended the HomeStay Symposium held by Wheaton Academy Network (WAnet). WAnet is an association of Christian high schools located throughout the country that include International HomeStay programs.

Since the International program began in 2007, SCA has hosted 66 students from around the globe. For the 2015-16 school year, SCA has 23 students that are part of the International Program. Seven of these students are freshmen that plan to do all of their high school at SCA, preparing to go on to American colleges and universities.

“The symposium was excellent,” said SCA International Director Kathy Tharp. “We were able to glean ideas and tools to advance various aspects in our program. During the symposium, we received a diagnostic tool to evaluate our international program and were encouraged that SCA was rated 4 out of 5 for Best Practices!”
