SCA Senior Aaron Banks, recognized as National Merit Finalist.

(Lee’s Summit) – Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that Senior Aaron Banks has advanced to Finalist standing in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. This distinction places him in a group of roughly 15,000 students representing less than one percent of U.S. high school graduating seniors.

Last September, Banks was notified that he was in the top 3-4% of the 1.5 million entrants and had qualified as a Semifinalist, meaning that he was one of the highest scoring entrants in Missouri. Banks advanced to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards and other requirements: including a letter of recommendation, student activities and leadership, and his own essay.

“Aaron is an amazing young man,” said SCA Academic Dean Kimberlee Gill. “Alongside his brilliant mind, he has a heart to always walk pleasing before his Lord. Summit Christian Academy has been blessed to partner with him as he moves forward into a very bright future.”

Approximately 7,600 Finalists will be selected to receive one of three types of National Merit Scholarship awards. National Merit Scholarship winners will receive their offer between March and mid-June.
