SCA Track Athletes Excel During Summer Months

(Lee’s Summit) – Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is excited to announce that freshmen Jakob Morris and Lenetta Lee, and 6th grader Larra Lee competed at the USA Track & Field (USATF) National Junior Olympic Championships in Jacksonville, Florida last week. The competition was held at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium.

“As a school, we are excited to see these athletes advance to the national level in their event,” said Secondary School Principal Mr. Emir Ruiz-Esparza. “We know that they represented Christ extremely well with their effort and their attitude,” said Mr. Ruiz-Esparza.

Jakob, Lenetta, and Larra qualified for the national competition earlier last month at the USATF Youth Program regional qualifier in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At regionals, Jake earned 2nd place in discus, and Lenetta earned 1st place in the 4×100 meter relay, long jump, the 100 meter dash, and the 200 meter dash. Larra placed 2nd place in shot put and 3rd in turbo javelin.
