Summit Christian Academy Students Excel at Spelling Bee

Students Succeed in ACSI Spelling Bee

Summit Christian Academy 8th grader Evan Harris took 1st place in the ACSI District Spelling Bee.

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) had 16 students as participants in the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) District Spelling Bee at Heartland Christian School in Belton on Friday.

The following seven SCA Students placed in their grade level competitions and advanced to the finals round at the District Spelling Bee:

-8th grade- Evan Harris took 1st place

-6th grade- Ryan Wagy took 3rd place

-5th grade- Jacob Martinez took 3rd place, Nate Bartlett took 2nd place, & Zach Chinnery took 1st place

-4th grade- Jeff Renetzky took 1st place

-3rd grade- Abby Cook took 3rd place

The final round of the spelling bee was the final spell down, in which the top four of each 5th–8th grade levels participated. In the final spell down, 5th grader Nate Bartlett finished 2nd and 8th grader Evan Harris finished 1st. Both have advanced to the ACSI Regional Spelling Bee in Plano, TX in March.

“We are so proud of all of all participants. They represented SCA and our Lord Jesus so well!” said Elementary Vice Principal Charissa Sanders.
