(Lee’s Summit, MO) – Summit Christian Academy Varsity Baseball competed in the Knob Noster Invitational on March 31-April 2. A strong defense helped them bring home the first place trophy for the third consecutive year. Senior Robbie Suhr led the Eagles to an 11-2 win over Archie in round one. An early lead gave sophomore Matt McWilliams the win over Sherwood in round two with a score of 14-4. A fourth-inning rally and Will Finch ended the tournament 10-0 over Knob Noster to win the tournament.

Head Coach John Gage viewed this tournament as preparation for district play-offs later this spring. “We went into this tournament and treated it like a mini playoff similar to districts. We lost a tough game last year to Warsaw in the quarterfinals of state and we want to keep building this season to continue our goal of winning conference, districts, and going back to the Final Four. The guys played well at this tournament but we want each guy to have a goal to not be content and to keep working to improve at their game. God gave us this great game to teach us life lessons and we want to use it every day and glorify Him in doing so!”

The Eagles are currently 6-0 as they work toward their goal of state-level competition later this spring.
