Summit Christian Academy (SCA) kindergartener Scottie Cutbirth Jr. recently placed 4th in the 6U division at the Missouri USA Wrestling Tournament. He has won three championship medals this year and also recently won the Lee’s Summit North Tournament without giving up a single point.

Scottie began his involvement in wrestling at the age of four, following in his father’s footsteps as the passion for the sport runs in his family- his Dad Scott Cutbirth grew up wrestling as well. Dad and son spent time watching wrestling tournaments on TV even when Scottie was an infant.

“Wrestling has helped shape Scottie’s respect of authority, work ethic, pride, and who he is as a person,” said Scottie’s dad, Scott Cutbirth. “The sport takes a lot of hard work and determination and dates back to the story of Jacob in the Bible, who wrestled with God. We hope that the sport of wrestling can help lead people to Christ.”

SCA looks forward to the year that Scottie can join their excelling High School Wrestling program. Scottie is a member of Glory Wrestling Club in Lee’s Summit and is the first member of their program to place at the state tournament.
