(Lee’s Summit, MO) – The Summit Christian Academy (SCA) Drama Department presented These Shining Lives on the stage at Summit Christian Academy April 7-9. These Shining Lives, by Melanie Marnich, is based on a true story of the strength and determination of four women who worked in a radium watch factory in Ottawa, Illinois. The play dramatizes the danger women faced in the workforce in the 1920s, and the lack of concern by companies for protecting the health of its employees.

“I’m still reeling from the stellar performances of the students in These Shining Lives,” said SCA Theatre Director Emily Stam. “I was blown away by this exceptional group of young people’s dedication and emotional vulnerability. The women of Ottawa, Illinois would be proud of their dedication to telling their story, and I am so proud of them!”
