Our School Spirit Lasts An Eternity

SCA International Program Guest Speakers at Lee’s Summit Rotary Club

SCA International Director Kathy Tharp, along with International Students and Global Connect officers, share about the school’s International Program at the Lee’s Summit Rotary Club recently.

(Lee’s Summit, MO) – Several Summit Christian Academy (SCA) students recently traveled off campus as they spoke to the Lee’s Summit Rotary Club about the International Program. Secondary Principal Joe Hesman, International Program Director Kathy Tharp, international students Maria Andres (Spain), Sergio Dalazen (Brazil), Sean Park (South Korea), and Doris Li (China), along with SCA Global Connect officer Perry Worden and International Program Intern Abigail Woodall shared different aspects of the international program and why it is such a significant program in the mission of the school in equipping world changers.

Most of SCA’s international students spend three to four years at SCA preparing to go on to American colleges and universities. During their time at SCA, they serve as Cadet Language Teachers in Mandarin, Spanish and French classes and provide authentic language and rich culture to the courses.

American students are selected to be a “Buddy” to an international student before they arrive in America, helping them assimilate into the SCA community. International Education Week, Global Connect Club, International Festival and countries of focus in each elementary class are just a few ways that the world is opened up to all SCA students.

“Our students are in training to be world changers by building friendships, working together, and learning from students from around the world,” said Kathy Tharp. “We are thankful for the opportunity to share our exceptional program with the Lee’s Summit Rotary Club.”
