619 runners and walkers registered for the 2nd Annual Summit Christian Academy Eagle Egg 5K held on April 9, 2011!
Together we raised approximately $25,000 to benefit the students and faculty of SCA. The run/walk was followed by an Easter egg hunt, and a variety of post-race activities. The U.S. Marines added to the fun by leading the crowd in pull-up bar challenges, and passing out shirts and water bottles.
Former Missouri State Senator, Matt Bartle led the event in prayer. Mark Curp, former world and American record holder in the half marathon, spoke words of encouragement, and led the race. SCA partnered with Rachel house, a non-profit pregnancy resource center helping young mothers in need, by collecting diapers and baby wipes on race day.
Lamar's Donuts, Panera, McAllister's Deli, H & R Block, Nature's Pantry, Chick-fil-A, Culver's and Lee's Summit Medical Center are among the 28 different local vendors who came out to support the event by serving a variety of food and beverages to the community.
