Experience Virtuosity!
In January of 2011, Summit Christian Academy piloted a new program celebrating and emphasizing excellence in the arts entitled Virtuosity! Through lessons/classes and authentic performance opportunities, students are encouraged to develop their talents and use them to glorify their Lord. Students participating in Virtuosity! should uphold the highest standards in a personal commitment to both refine their skills and appropriately evaluate the arts.
For a limited number of students, music lessons are available before, during, and after school. Lesson availability depends upon teacher hours, rooms available, and student schedule allowing a particular lesson time. Students will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and lessons taken during school hours will be subject to principal approval. A waiting list will be developed once all available slots are filled.
All music students will participate in two recitals each school year, one in the fall and one in the spring, and will be provided with a Virtuosity! t-shirt which will be worn on selected school days.
Registration fee is due at contract signing (applies to both new and returning students):
$25.00 (includes Virtuosity! t-shirt)
– OR
$20.00 (without t-shirt).
Cost of books/music (teacher directed)
Lesson fee of $17.00-22.00/half hour ($25.00/hour for group voice) is based on total number of lessons during the second semester. Total fee may be paid at contract signing or billed monthly. Level of cost is determined by teacher degree.
Lessons are offered in piano, worship piano, voice, brass and woodwinds, violin and guitar. Art class is also available for students in grades 6-12.
If you are interested in signing up for Virtuosity! or just want more information, please email Jennifer Pinkston. Sign-ups will be taken until available slots are filled and, then, a waiting list will be developed.
