SCA Recognizes 2014 Spelling Bee Winners

 

Lee’s Summit, MO–  Summit Christian Academy (SCA) recently held its annual spelling bee and three elementary students emerged as the creme de la creme among spellers.

 

Pictured here is 5th grader Zachary Chinnery (3rd place winner), 3rd grader Abigayle Cook (2nd place winner), and 5th grader Jacob Martinez (1st place winner). These winners have advanced to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) District competition to be held January 16, 2015 at Heartland Christian Academy in Belton.

 

A total of 38 students in grades 2 through 8 participated in the spelling bee, 14 of whom have also qualified for districts. They include 3rd graders Karly Gregg and Hayden Perry; 4th graders Lydia Francis and Jeffrey Renetzky; 5th grader Nate Bartlett; 6th graders Addison Everson, Michael Hall, and Ryan Wagy; and 7th graders Hannah Helms, Avery Lake, and Riley Painter; and 8th graders Brody Ethridge, Evan Harris, and Chloe Woodall.

 

“It is so exciting to see our students shine,” said Mrs. Kimberlee Gill, SCA academic dean and elementary principal.  “I am so pleased that our students can prioritize academics and commit to the discipline required to experience educational success.”
