(Lee’s Summit, MO) – Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to announce that they have expanded their fine and performing arts program to include Symphonic Orchestra for grades 6-12.

“Between the growing number of string players through our Virtuosity program and the talented string players in our International Program, the time is perfect to begin an orchestra,” said SCA Secondary Band and Worship Teacher, Michelle Nagy, who is the Symphonic Orchestra’s director and conductor. In the first year the orchestra has 24 students.

Mrs. Nagy, who has a degree in Violin Performance from Houghton College in Western New York, has played back-up violin for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Michael Buble, and Peter Gabriel.

“What I enjoy about being an instructor is that the fine and performing arts teach attention to detail, a commitment to excellence, and a passion to push oneself to the next level,” said Mrs. Nagy. “I am looking forward to the days when we’re able to dig into some amazing and challenging classical music selections. I would like for the program to grow enough that we could have a String Orchestra, Concert Band, and Symphonic Orchestra and believe that what we accomplish this year will be a hallmark for us in years to come.”
