SCA Holds Commencement Ceremony

SCA Graduation & Valedictorian

Summit Christian Academy valedictorian Michael Lint (pictured) speaks at SCA’s 12th Commencement Ceremony since the school began 25 years ago. Lint will attend Saint Louis University as part of the Medical Scholars Program. Lint is also a Bright Flight recipient as well as a Vice Presidential Scholar.

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) recently held graduation for the class of 2015. The class included 41 graduates who were offered over $1 million in scholarship potential, and 95% of the SCA class of 2015 will be going on to college after graduation ranging from Rutgers, to Creighton to the University of Missouri.

At the ceremony, Michael Lint, son of Brian & Joanna Lint from Lee’s Summit was named valedictorian and Andrew DeShon, son Cheryl and Joe DeShon of Lee’s Summit, and Ben Smith, son of Randy and Marty Smith of Lee’s Summit were named co-salutatorians.

Lint shared with his classmates, “We started the year serving God in Denver, Colorado. We are ready.” Lint quoted 2 Corinthians 4:8-9: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.”

“I am proud of our seniors,” said SCA Head of School Linda Harrelson. “SCA has continued to offer college-preparatory classes, and the fact that 95% of our seniors will be attending college this Fall is a testament to our rigorous curriculum, supportive parents, strong faculty and staff, as well as students who are driven to fulfill their God-given potential beyond SCA and in the world of academia.”

The International Program continues to grow at SCA and the class of 2015 had six international students that graduated. For the first time in SCA History two family members traveled over 7000 miles from China to Lee’s Summit to see their daughters graduate. It was a very special night for those parents as well as their children who have been part of the Lee’s Summit and SCA community for high school.
