(Lee’s Summit, MO) – The Summit Christian Academy (SCA) elementary school students united together to give over 9,000 food items to bless families with a meal for Thanksgiving this year, through the annual SCA Thanksgiving Food Drive. One of the core values of SCA is to Cultivate Community, and the food drive helps SCA students understand the importance of serving and helping the community.

SCA joined forces with Turning Point Church, Belton Assembly of God, and Courageous Life Church to collect food items and bless over 475 families here in the Kansas City metro area. The sixth grade class packed the boxes and loaded the boxes onto trucks to transport the food to the churches so that they could give them to families for Thanksgiving.

The SCA students were asked to collect 2,000 items by specific dates. The SCA students and community exceeded their goal!

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our families,” shared SCA Elementary Principal, Charissa Sanders. “The 2019 Food Drive turned out to be a great one!”
