SCA STEWARDS Class Investigates Mock Crime Scene

The SCA STEWARDS class learned the art of fingerprinting recently as they completed a Crime Scene Investigation unit. The class partnered with School Resource Officer Holman to solve who stole their teacher’s lunch.

The Summit Christian Academy (SCA) Student Environment of Arduous Study (STEWARDS) third through sixth grade students just completed their CSI: Forensic Science unit with a Crime Scene Scenario Day.  Alongside SCA School Resource Officer Matt Holman, the STEWARDS investigative teams worked together to test DNA, compare shoe and fingerprints, and ultimately determine who stole their teacher- Mrs. Stacy Epema’s lunch.

The class will next begin a unit on 3-D printing. They will have the opportunity to see Dr. Karina Carlson, a Pediatric Cardiologist, present on how 3-D printing is used to enhance surgical planning, patient care, and patient education. The students will have the opportunity to create 3-D prototype models and conclusively print a creation through the SCA 3-D printer!

STEWARDS is a program from Summit Christian Academy for students who demonstrate academic giftedness to the extent that continued educational growth and stimulation can best be served by environment beyond typical grade-level curriculum.
