(Lee’s Summit, MO) – Summit Christian Academy (SCA) recently opened their new addition- the Goppert Classroom Wing.  The Goppert Classroom wing is named for the campaign’s lead donor- the Goppert Foundation- and added nine interactive learning classrooms, a nurse’s office, restrooms, and an additional 11,000 square foot to the SCA Secondary building.

The Grand Opening was celebrated by a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with the entire SCA Kindergarten – 12th grade in attendance. Also attending the ceremony were SCA faculty, staff, parents, donors, and also included:
SCA Board of Education President, Don Bisbee; SCA Board of Education Vice President, John Kliewer; SCA Board of Education members, Patty McWilliams, Pastor Kevin Gamber, Dr. Fel Bagunu and Eric Oppriecht; from the Goppert Foundation: Autumn Markley & Jillian Markley (and SCA 4th grade student); SCA Head of School, Mrs. Linda Harrelson; SCA Secondary Principal & Director of Operations, Mr. Joe Hesman; SCA Secondary Assistant Principal Anthony Mickelson; SCA & GPACS Teacher of the Year, Mr. Greg Finch; Legacy of Faith General Contractor from Fogel Anderson, Andy Keidel; Site Superintendent from Fogel Anderson, Ben King; Legacy of Faith Architects, Dave Brown & Sarah Wesely;
Missouri Senator Ed Emery; and Lee’s Summit Educational Development Council President Rick McDowell.

The ceremony ended with a time of prayer and blessing in the halls of the new wing.  SCA students, staff, families, and donors joined hands in prayer over the new classrooms and all who will enter them.

“We celebrate God’s faithfulness and goodness to our school as we open this classroom wing,” shared SCA Head of School Linda Harrelson. “The theme we’ve had for this campaign was Psalm 78:4- ‘We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, His power, and the wonders that He has done.’  This aligns perfectly with SCA’s mission: to inspire students to achieve their God-given potential. We are so happy to celebrate what God has done!”

The classroom wing was completed on the school’s 30th anniversary school year and will allow for the school to accommodate up to 200 additional students.
