SCA Students Excel at District Spelling Bee

Seven SCA students placed in the top of their grade level at the ACSI District Spelling Bee recently. (Lee’s Summit) – Summit Christian Academy (SCA) was represented by seventeen students in the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) District Spelling Bee held recently at Maranatha Christian Academy in Shawnee, KS.  

Seven of these students placed in the top four in their grade level: in 4th grade, Sophia Ruiz placed 3rd and Leo Butler placed 4th; in 5th grade, Jimmy Shettleroe placed 3rd; in 6th grade, Jet Nickell placed 2nd; in 7th grade, Abigail Shanahan placed 3rd; and in 8th grade, Adrian Haack placed 1st and Jisue Kim placed 3rd.

These seven SCA students participated in the final spell down. In the final spell down, seventh grade student Abigail Shanahan placed first, eighth grade student Jisue Kim placed third, and eighth grade student Adrian Haack placed fourth. These students will represent SCA at the ACSI Regional Spelling Bee in Plano, TX on March 6.

“We are so proud of all of our participants for how they represented Christ and SCA,” shared SCA Elementary Principal Charissa Sanders.  “Each speller was determined to do well and displayed a priority of excellence.”
