SCA Elementary Food Drive Supports Kansas City Families this Thanksgiving

(Lee’s Summit, MO) – The Summit Christian Academy (SCA) elementary school students united together to give over 9,000 food items and paper goods to bless families with a meal for Thanksgiving this year, through the annual SCA Thanksgiving Food Drive. One of the core values of SCA is to Cultivate Community, and the food drive helps SCA students understand the importance of serving and helping the community.

SCA joined forces with Courageous Life Church to collect food items and bless hundreds of families here in the Kansas City metro area. The sixth grade class wrote encouraging notes, packed boxes and loaded them onto trucks to transport the food to the churches so that they could give them to families for Thanksgiving.

As a reward for exceeding the goal, SCA Lower and Upper Elementary Principals Mrs. Charissa Sanders and Mrs. Julie Madsen kept their word to kiss a pig.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our families,” shared SCA Lower Elementary Principal, Charissa Sanders. “The 2021 Food Drive turned out to be a great one!
