SCA Announces Christian Character Recipients and Students of the Year

(Lee’s Summit, MO) – Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is pleased to recognize students who consistently exhibit exceptional Christian character through the Christian Character Award

program. The purpose of this award is to encourage students to pursue their potential toward attaining the highest level of personal and academic development as well as Christian character. 

The achievement of Christian Character at SCA is one of the most prestigious recognitions within the school.

Elementary Christian Character recipients for the fourth quarter are first grade student Owen Nonnemaker, son of Julie and Philip Nonnemaker, and fifth grade student Laila Huber, daughter of Marsha and Tom Huber.

SCA announced fourth grade student Myles Jeffries, son of Todd and Lori Jeffries of Grandview, as their 2022 SCA Elementary Christian Character Student of the Year.  

“Myles comes to class each day with a positive attitude,” shared SCA Upper Elementary Principal Julie Madsen. “He looks for ways to help classmates around him and often volunteers to help with any needs. He is always looking for ways to serve in the classroom, at recess, and in special classes. Myles encourages his peers, providing uplifting words and offering assistance in any way he can. When any challenge arises, Myles is calm and responds in a respectful manner. His actions represent Christ-like character, and Myles is a light to all those he encounters. We are so proud to announce Myles Jeffries as our Elementary Christian Character Student of the Year!”

Junior High Christian Character recipients for the second semester are eighth grade student Ryan Sare, son of Rachael and Scott Sare and eighth grade student Addison Welch, daughter of Kreg and Mary Grace Welch.

Senior High Christian Character recipients for the second semester are senior Hudson Harris, son of Mark and Krista Harris, and senior Chloe Schumer, daughter of Anthony and Angela Schumer.

In addition, SCA announced senior Hudson Harris, son of Mark and Krista Harris of Greenwood, as their 2021-22 Student of the Year.  Hudson has attended SCA for six years and will attend the University of the Nations in the fall, and continue his professional singing and acting career with the Conservatory of Annie Moses in Nashville, TN.

“Hudson is an incredible young man that loves God and desires to seek His path for his own life,” shared SCA Secondary Principal Joe Hesman.  “He has been a tremendous role model for other students at SCA and I am so proud of him.  He will be greatly missed!
