SCA Varsity Football Hosts Annual Flag Football Camp

SCA Varsity Football coaches and players recently hosted their fourth SCA Flag Football Camp for 179 participants in grades K-7 from SCA and the Kansas City community.  Pictured here is SCA Varsity Football Player Cason Stone and his team of incoming fifth and sixth grade students who won the “Super Bowl” in their age division.

(Lee’s Summit) – The Summit Christian Academy (SCA) Varsity Football team recently hosted 179 incoming first through eighth grade students from SCA and the Kansas City community as part of the fourth annual SCA Flag Football Camp.

The goal of the five-session Flag Football Camp is to provide an opportunity for youth to learn and enjoy the game of football in a Christian environment. The camp was led by the SCA Varsity Football coaches and team, whose players coached groups of participants in basic fundamentals, offensive and defensive techniques, and a devotion. The teams had games each week and camp concluded with a “Super Bowl” that included teams with the best records.

“I loved seeing the huge turnout,” shared SCA Varsity Football Coach Todd Berck. “It means football is alive and well in Lee’s Summit. Our high school players do a great job working with the campers. It gives them an opportunity to get to know the next generations of SCA Eagle players and share their faith during our devotion time. The camp continues to grow each year and we are blessed to see our SCA Football program grow because of it.”
