Mrs. Weikum joined the faculty of SCA in 2014.  She substituted at public and Christian schools before finding her place at Summit Christian Academy. Mrs. Weikum is an innovative math teacher, who personalizes the learning process to give students every opportunity to succeed.  She has designed her own math curriculum, which challenges students to expand their mathematical thinking. In Mrs. Weikum's class, students will learn how to self-monitor their own progress, make sense of mathematical ideas, see mistakes as a learning opportunity, and find success by persevering.

“As a learning community, we will face many challenging topics that will require endurance and collaboration. Math may not be your strongest subject, but God certainly has the power to expand your understanding. Do not feel discouraged, because God is there to bless your efforts (Joshua 1:9). You can do anything (even math) through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). When we trust in the Lord, we don’t have to lean on our own limited understanding of things (Proverbs 3:5). As your math teacher, I can explain, demonstrate, and direct your learning, but only God can give growth (I Corinthians 3:6-7). We all have personal access to Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of knowledge and understanding (Colossians 2:2-3). It is important to understand that what we accomplish in math class is not by our own strength, but by God’s strength.”

Mrs. Weikum is originally from Maryland. She and her husband now live in Lenexa, Kansas. They love being active in their church’s young adult Bible study group, exercising, and traveling.

“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:2-3
